Poetic Nature in the Hoosierland:
A Collection of Environmental Poems by Indiana Authors
Edited by Stacy Smith
Book Description:
Out of 207 entries to a nature poetry contest for Indiana residents, editor Stacy Smith and Interpretive
Naturalist Angie Manuel chose 62 poems by 39 poets to be included in Poetic Nature in the Hoosierland. Also contained
in the 40-page chapbook are 7 additional poems by 6 of the poets, a few poems by the editor, a collaborated poem, and black
and white photographs.
From Theresa Peck’s lovely depiction of a meadow to Charles Huston Reisfar’s
stargazing poem, the pages are filled with poetic echoes of Mother Nature’s glory. Although the poems are by Hoosiers,
anyone outside of the state could familiarize with and appreciate the wonder and beauty of the natural world represented in
this collection. Poetic Nature in the Hoosierland has an added bonus – royalties from the chapbook benefit Mounds
State Park of Anderson, Indiana.
