Aquarian Moon

When our glowing lunar lady
Steals quietly into Aquarius;
Turmoil follows....
Eruptions spread nefarious.

In a constellation south of Pegasus
The Water Bearer dampens the soul.
Tongues become razor sharp,
As pent up anger gains control.

Oh Pisces, hurry from your hiding place
Below Andromeda....waiting your turn.
Hearts are belabored in sorrow,
Causing unstable unions to burn.

Swim swiftly to the rescue, Pisces.
Hurry, before it becomes too late.
You help to change a bitter mood,
With loving thoughts in place of hate.

Amber Sol

Oh glowing orb of crystal heat
At twilignt hour I love to meet;
Your rays of brilliant amber glass
Light rainbow skies as colors pass.

I am wrapped in thoughts of peace and love
And know I am connected with heaven above.
Each time you sink below the sea;
In solitude I ponder thee.

And every morning when you rise
Though clouds may harbor a disguise,
I know there faithful you will be.
Your radiant warmth, bathing me.

A Tribute to Roses

Roses gathered in the winter garden
In glorious hues of rainbow delights
They drink of nature's purest water
From the skies rain cloudy heights

Each rose, as it is touched
By the Sun's warm caress
Will bare open its buds
Revealing soft petals in velvety dress

Then, as if welcoming all
Who will congregate here,
They share their heavenly perfume
With those whom are near.

With love they are picked
Then brought into the house
Arayed in a vase,
A gift to my spouse.

Myrrha's Tears

Oh, Adonis how brightly shines your pride
Whence your shame you keep from view
Hidden deep inside

Your mothers golden tears
From all her tortured pain
Fall slowly from her limbs
Like heavy laden drops of rain

Though you were born not of the womb
But through your mothers blessed bloom
Myrrha, once a goddess, now a lovely tree
She stands so tall in sunlight
And cries so silently

For her arms now limbs,
Unable to hold her child
Because of Cinyras' vengeance
Upon his child he had defiled.

All is not lost for Myrrha,
Although in her sorrow she must remain
For her tears provide us with health and happiness,
And laughter once again.

To help you understand this poem please read the folklore below:

Folklore: Well over 2,000 years before the baby Jesus received Myrrh
as a gift, it was one of the most desired and most expensive items in
the world.
According to Roberta Wilson, "In Greek mythology, Aphrodite forced the
goddess Myrrha into an incestuous relationship with her father,
Cinyras. Cinyras avenged the act by turning his daughter into a myrrh
tree. When the tree sprouted its blooms, their child Adonis was born.
The resinous drops that exude from cuts in the tree's bark were said to
be Myrrha's tears."

Historical uses: Myrrh was used as incense in religious rituals, in
embalming, as a cure for cancer, leprosy, and syphilis. Myrrh, mixed
with coriander and honey, was used to treat herpes. Today it is still
a very valuable essential oil used for the healing properties mentioned
and much more.

Ko 'Olina

White coral in the sleepy lagoon
Peeps its head above the water
In the mid day afternoon
Sand as white as snow
As it meets the waters edge

Our hearts are filled with joy
As our wedding vows we pledge
For in this lovely little chapel
That over looks the sea
Our hearts are joined together
For all eternity

Note: Ko 'Olina means "Place of Joy" in Hawaiian

 Nightingale

Oh dear sweet nightingale
So fragile, with your broken wing,
Still unable to fly.....
But very able to sing.

Your song is sad and lonely,
As all the other fowl take flight.
You sing your lovely sad song
Long into the night.

Autumn's Gift

As crimson leaves drift to the ground
On Autumns breeze
Floating aimlessly as my thoughts......
Destined to be surrounded,
Layer upon layer
Each leaf having unique
But similar substance

And in their fall to awaiting death,
Their beauty has never been
Quite as lovely,
Nor their colors nearly as vivid.
Returning to eventual mulch,
Nourishment for a new beginning,
Only hinting that they are renewing life
With a whisper of the wind.

The Wilted Rose

What happens to this wilted rose
When it's time is almost spent?
Do you discard it in the trash
Or save it's beauty lent?

For this rose has faded just like me
But it can still be useful....
For this little wilted flower
Transforms into a fragrant potpourri.

Desert Treasures

As eagle swoops at break of day
Tallons cling to wriggling prey
Having hunted and found his quest
He soon returns to guard his nest

Shimmering cliffs that brightly shine
From rust colored monolith's high
Creating golden treasures
Within the sunset sky

The smell of Autumn's in the air
Chill of night falls fast
The eagle soars through clouded sky
His kingdom won through triumphs past.

Seasonal Crackling

Electrical storms
causing earths rebirth
into verdant valleys
that creep to the
summit of mountains,
sharing intimacy with the rain.

Blossoming brilliant yellow
shower trees
so heavy ladden with blooms
their petals fall
covering the space below
like golden snow.

Fluid air of mists that share
the symphony of Spring.
Birds in song, mating calls....
a seasonal crackling.
A time of love, fresh and fine,
new life divine.

Moon Maiden

Oh lovely Maiden of the Moon
What strange powers do you posses?
For in your different phases, you surrender,
Or may steal away my happiness.

Dearest Lunar Lady...
When you are dark and new,
I feel your grief has its grip on me,
And I am filled with darkness too.

Then gradually
You wax into the light.
And I again,
Enjoy your beauty bright.

When you fill the evening sky
With your loving light,
You may draw shy lovers into a kiss,
Or cause two foes to fight!
